Dear colleague,

In May (11-14), 2011, the 6th edition of International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot (ISDF) will take place in the familiar surroundings of the NH Hotel Leeuwenhorst, Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands. 

You are cordially invited to participate in this 4 day symposium. The meeting aims to provide up-to-date information regarding the prevention and management of the diabetic foot and in the last decades it has become the standard international (scientific) meeting on this topic.

A variety of well-known specialists in the field of diabetic foot will present state of art lectures on a broad selection of topics regarding foot problems in diabetes mellitus. During the 6th edition of this internationally renowned symposium, all the latest insights and developments in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the diabetic foot will be presented. Besides lectures, there will repeated workshops allowing participants to choose multiple sessions to attend. Workshops will be interactive and focus on providing useful information for daily clinical practice. Additionally, oral and poster presentations of submitted abstracts will inform attendees on the current status of research in the area of the diabetic foot.  

The scope of the meeting will cover both findings from basic research and new clinical insights important to everybody’s daily practice.  

The symposium is unique in the way it brings together representatives from all the specialist areas involved in the care for people with diabetes suffering from foot related problems. This multitude of participants from all over the world creates an environment in which new insights and future ideas regarding treatment modalities and research are developed and blossom. Therefore internists, endocrinologists, diabetologists, general surgeons, orthopaedic and vascular surgeons, neurologists, specialists in rehabilitation, specialists in infectious diseases, dermatologists, human movement scientists, general practitioners, podiatrists, diabetes educators, wound care specialists, orthotists, casting technicians, and other healthcare providers interested in the diabetic foot are all invited to participate and contribute to another stimulating and successful International Symposium on the Diabetic Foot.
